We are pleased to announce the release of version 4.27 of the Automatic Sensing information system. This release focuses on making environmental context data freely available to all users – no extra subscription required.

Base Data Project

The centrepiece of this release is the new "Base Data" project, which aggregates data from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI) data platform. The project contains over 1,500 monitoring stations distributed across the entire Czech Republic, covering two categories: groundwater level bores and precipitation or river flow springs. All stations are updated daily and carry more than a decade of historical records. Base Data replaces the older Weather feature, which offered only a limited set of weather stations with fewer measured variables.

One practical use case is pre-construction assessment. Before breaking ground, you can look up the nearest groundwater bore and review the long-term water level fluctuation for that area. This gives an immediate sense of the seasonal high-water mark and helps estimate risks related to foundation depth, drainage, or basement waterproofing – without commissioning a dedicated monitoring point.

The data also acts as a reference layer for your own measurement projects. If a station in your project shows an unusual reading, you can quickly cross-check it against the nearest CHMI bore or precipitation gauge to determine whether the change is a local phenomenon or part of a broader regional trend. Furthermore, if you operate your own boreholes, you can use the nearby precipitation history to anticipate future water level changes – heavy or prolonged rainfall typically causes a measurable rise in groundwater level within days to weeks, depending on soil type and depth. The Base Data project is accessible to all logged-in users at no extra cost – explore it now.

Project Archiving

It is now possible to archive projects that are no longer actively monitored. Archived projects are hidden from the main project list and grouped under a separate "Archived Projects" section at the bottom of the sidebar. The archive flag can be toggled at any time from the project settings.
